Gold Rush!

Building on our reputation for Private Collection sales we were delighted to offer The Late Noel Francis Rainford private collection of coins this morning.  This small and very select collection was available for viewing on the internet for a number of weeks, garnering attention from every corner of the world which was reflected in the prices achieved.  Starting with the gold coin section of the sale, including gold proof coins, sovereigns, proof sets, and limited edition coins the star lot was lot 34, a Royal Mint 'The Britannia' 2015 five ounce 24ct gold proof coin, numbered twenty three out of a limited edition of just fifty coins, which sold for a hammer price of £9,000. 

With many of the other gold coins selling for well over five thousand pounds, the momentum gathered as the sale entered the silver coin section where every coin and set sold well over or at the top end of the estimate.
